Genealogy and Local History

Genealogy is the name applied to the research of where we came from; who our ancestors are, and what kind of man, or woman, they were.
In 2006, 238 Patrons used our Heritage Room to take a trip into the past and find out more about what once was.
The Heritage room in Mauston contains local newspapers on microfilm, Mauston High School yearbooks as well as other archival material; For equipment we have a genealogicaly oriented computer with access to Ancestry.com & Genealogy.com, a microfilm reader, and an Optelec "Video Magnifier", a device that magnifies fine print.
Come take a step into the past.
 Heritage & Genealogy Room

Welcome!
Visitors to the Heritage Room must stop at the front desk to sign-in and pick up a key, a form of ID must also be left at the front desk.  This is for the protection of the many fragile and irreplaceable items in our collection.
