The 2008 Summer Reading Program runs from June 30th through July 30th. Kids come to the Library once a week for stories, songs, games, and a simple craft. No registration is required. All programs are free.
HPL's Weekly Summer Reading Events:
- HATCHLINGS– Mondays, 10:00– 11:00 AM For kids 0-3 years old with an adult.
Enjoy an hour playing with your child and using age appropriate toys. A great opportunity to share problems, stories, and advice with other parents.
- LUNCH BUNCH– Tuesdays, 12:00-1:00 PM, at Riverside Park, For kids 9– 15 years old.
Lunch will be provided (permission slips required. Wear old clothes for activities like tug-of-war, Fear Factor and more!
- RED HOT READERS– Wednesdays, 10:00-11:00AM
For kids 4– 8 years old. Join us for fun stories, songs, games and crafts all having to do with BUGS!

- BEEKEEPING- Tuesday, June 24—-6:30 p.m.
Markie Pendleton, a beekeeper, will present a program all about beekeeping. See hives, live bees and samples of different flavored honey.
- MONSTER TRUCK SHOW- Monday, June 30—10:00 a.m.
Back by popular demand, Monster Truck Show behind the Library at Riverside Park. See a fire engine, police car, grader, backhoe and other City of Mauston equipment!
- PET PARADE- Tuesday, July 8—-10:00 a.m.
March down State Street in our 3rd Annual parade. All pets are welcome, but each pet MUST be on a leash if possible. Meet at Riverside Park for registration.
- MAGICIAN- Tuesday, July 15 —-2:00 p.m.
Jeff Langer a children’s magician will perform in the Community Room. A show that somehow promotes reading and learning while exploding bananas and vanishing bunnies
cannot be missed.
- LIVE BUGS!- Tuesday, July 22—6:00 p.m.
Bruce the Bug Guy presents a unique fast-paced, hands-on program that features LIVE bugs and various displays of unusual and spectacular insects from around the world.
