Teen Advisory Board Meeting
Tuesday, October 16
th, 2007
There where five people in attendance. We discussed the possibility of changing the name of the board but it was decided to keep it as is for the time being.
There was a discussion on the day and time of future meetings. Several of those in attendance work on Tuesdays so that won't work for them. It was voted on that we would have the meetings on Monday from 6-7. Deb will call the others not in attendance to see if that time would work for them. The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 12
th from 6-7 pm.
Some of the suggestions for future young adult programs are:
- Guitar Hero
- Halo tournies
- Book discussion groups
- Artistry Day - Poetry contest, drawins, etc
- Writer's Workshop
- Reccommended book list
One suggestion was to have a half sheet that would be given out whenever a young adult checked out a book. It would ask
- How the book was rated (circle from 1-5 stars)
- Would you reccommend this book (circle yes or no)
- For what age would you recommend it
- What did you like/dislike about the book
We wouldn't ask for names but would ask the age of the patron.
We discussed our Teen Page on the library website. A "Forum" was suggested. Jason, our tech person here at the library, will be on hand next month, if his schedule permits, to answer the technical questions. Everyone was asked to go online and check out different library websites and get ideas on what things they would like to have on their webpage. They were asked to get several ideas to bring to the next meeting. They can check out library websites all over the country to get some ideas.
We discussed how to promote future programs effectively. One student works at WRJC as does her mother, so they thought that would be a goood place to start along, with having the schools mention them during announcements.
We had one idea that we should get involved in the community with programs that wuold help the Food Pantry and other community projects. It would benefit the community and also help with students that need to have credit for doing community projects.

Quick, interesting activities, music, books and links (older links at the bottom of the page):
OverClocked ReMix hosts unofficial game music arrangements. Sounds rather drab and out of date? Listen to some of the pieces before calling judgement, you'll be pleasently surprised.
