Enjoy all the fun of storytime from the comfort of your home!
Each themed Storytime Kit contains a fun story to read, a song to sing, a craft to make, and resources to explore.
Mauston’s StoryWalk is a series of 16 panels. Panel number one starts behind the Hatch Public Library in Riverside Park. Walkers, joggers, families, strollers, bikers, all follow the sidewalk from panel to panel, reading a page from a book, and ending with panel sixteen at Murphy Park, about a one-mile walk in all. The StoryWalk encourages outdoor activity, literacy and the use of Mauston’s north side Riverwalk. The panels are made to be changed and our library installs a new book in the StoryWalk seasonally.
This project was funded with help from the Friends of the Hatch Public Library, Kwik Trip Kares and the Kohler Foundation. The StoryWalk® concept was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and was developed with the help of Rachel Senechal, Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
Tails and Tales: 2021 Summer Library Program
The Hatch Public Library is excited to be able to have an in-person summer reading program this year! For summer 2021, our summer reading program will be located AT Olson Middle School, on Grayside Avenue. Everyone is welcome to attend, whatever days work for your family.
Kids going into kindergarten, all the way through 6th grade can track their reading, participate in outside group activities, create projects, and learn about all types of animals. If your children are in the Mauston school district, just register in your Skyward account. If you live out of town, homeschool, or are just visiting this summer, call the library for more information.
You can learn more about the library's partnership with Mauston Summer School here: https://www.maustonschools.org/learning/summer-q-and-a.cfm

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten. Sound hard? It’s easier than you think.
If you read just one book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years! And we have fun incentives to keep you and your child motivated.
